SBF: The Movie (Screenplay Part One)
This is the phone call that plays during the opening credits of the movie, SBF...,
Hey Sam,
What’s going on.
…
Oh no way.
…
Hmmm - that’s funny…
*exhale*
Look -
You kept it going
for as long as you could -
You kept it going for as long as you could!
And in that time…
…you made a lot of friends.
And I know that the people
that you thought were friends
aren’t so friendly anymore.
…
Come to think of it,
while you were making friends,
you were probably making enemies at the same time, right?
Pretty standard when you think about it.
And so I know that the vast majority of people
are going to be very upset with you
and that they’re going to stay upset with you
probably for the rest of your life.
Now,
you wouldn’t have gotten here
if you weren’t already capable
of handling people not liking you…
…But to have your friends hate you?
That’s a tough one.
Makes you feel very alone…
…but there’s a strength in being alone.
The truth is,
you were alone from the very beginning.
You were alone in the middle,
And you’re alone again in the end…
…But the end is not the end;
It only seems like the end because
People want to seal your fate…
…But, people don’t want to hate;
They want to love, then hate,
and love, then hate,
over and over and over again.
What’s a song without a bridge?
So yeah,
the crowd isn’t looking for success,
they’re looking for the secular Jesus,
the secular Buddha, the secular Ganesh…
…the secular Socrates.
So when people hate you -
they don’t hate you…
…they hate themselves.
They hate themselves for believing
in a false exit.
They didn’t realize that their exit
was just another trap.
And it wasn’t a trap set by you;
you clearly didn’t come up with this.
So, now that you’re alone again…
…maybe there’s a chance you recover.
Not recover financially, but emotionally.
You’re alone again…and that’s when growth begins.
You’re alone again…and that’s when growth begins.
